New Warden Joins Gadsden Correctional Facility

Management & Training Corporation (MTC), which operates the Gadsden Correctional Facility, is pleased to announce Shelly Sonberg has been named new warden of the Gadsden facility effective September 23, 2013.

“Shelly brings a wealth of experience to her new role at the Gadsden facility,” said MTC Vice President Marjorie Brown. “We look forward to continued excellence in all aspects of operations and programs offered to offenders.”

Warden Sonberg has worked in corrections for nearly 30 years with the Arizona Department of Corrections. She most recently served as the warden of the Marana Community Correctional Treatment Facility in Arizona which is also operated by MTC.

Warden Sonberg replaces Sergio Molina who served as warden since 2010. Molina was recently promoted to MTC’s corporate office in Utah as senior vice president of business development and administration.

Warden Sonberg said, “I look forward to working in such an outstanding facility. Warden Molina and his staff have worked hard to create a safe, secure, and effective facility. Offenders have tremendous opportunities for growth at the facility which offers numerous educational, vocational, and life skills classes. These opportunities help prepare offenders for successful re-entry into society.”
