New Prison Operator Provides Update on Transition to Wilkinson County Correctional Facility

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) will take over operation of the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in Woodville, MS, on July 1, 2013.

MTC has named Frank Shaw new warden at the facility. Mr. Shaw most recently served as warden at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian. Prior to working in Mississippi, Warden Shaw served with the Illinois Department of Corrections for nearly 30 years. He began as a correctional officer and worked his way up through the ranks holding various positions including lieutenant, captain, major, assistant warden of operations, and warden. He also worked as an investigator conducting administrative and criminal investigations for the state of Illinois.

Warden Shaw is currently overseeing the training academy of new correctional officers who have recently been hired by MTC.

“Each cadet must successfully complete a three-week, rigorous training course,” said Warden Frank Shaw. “We provided each newly-hired employee with the same level of training that state correctional officers receive, and we believe they will be a valuable asset to the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility.”

Training includes: security procedures, critical incident management, count procedures, self defense, first aid, examination of offender populations, offender rights, responsibilities, and legal issues, and medical services.

Warden Shaw added, “We look forward to becoming an integral part of the Woodville, MS community. MTC is committed to operating safe and secure facilities while providing inmates with valuable programming that will help them successfully transition back to society.”
