MTC Keys to Success
MTC Works serves both employers and job seekers by providing skill upgrades and employment opportunities to unemployed and under-employed workers. MTC Works is recognized as a leader within the Region I Workforce Investment Board, the Workforce Response Team and the WorkSource Northwest Oregon. Keys to success include: a strong management team, comprehensive talent development programs, customized training, effective job search tools, and aggressive follow-up systems.

TALENT DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS
MTC Works employees understand, before clients can be placed into worthwhile jobs they must have proper skill training. Each MTC Works client is provided the opportunity to improve their abilities in a variety of ways:
- Assessments – Potential clients are evaluated to determine their existing skills, interests, aptitudes and competencies.
- Computer basics – Clients who need additional computer skills are evaluated and trained.
- Financial fitness – Scholarship, grant and loan opportunities are determined for each client.
- Work experience – Before being placed into jobs, many clients observe the work environment through job shadowing, internship, and on-the-job training opportunities.
MTC Works offers “hands on” training in: Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, conflict resolution, diversity issues, customer service and supervisory development. Each training can be taught “as is” or can be customized to meet individual client or employer needs. MTC Works also assists employers who have specific training needs for existing employees. Employers can request specific teaching curriculums or consult with MTC Works personnel to determine the most effective training materials available to address specific needs.
JOB SEARCH TOOLS
MTC Works clients receive comprehensive training to develop their skills in on-line job search techniques. Additionally, clients also receive individualized assistance to improve their:
- Job application
- Cover letter
- Interviewing skills
- Business networking abilities
- Labor market knowledge
Providing clients with new employability skills and placing them into rewarding positions is not the end of the process. Follow through is the next critical step. MTC Works maintains contact with clients it places into jobs or higher education opportunities for one year. Clients needing follow-up training or additional employability skills are encouraged to participate in training while maintaining their new positions.
