Management & Training Corporation to Operate The Wilkinson County Correctional Facility

Management & Training Corporation (MTC) is pleased to announce the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) has awarded the company a contract to operate the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in Woodville, effective July 1, 2013. The contract is for five years with two, 12-month options to extend.

“We look forward to continuing to build strong relationships in the great state of Mississippi,” said MTC Senior Vice President of Corrections Odie Washington. “We have partnered with state and federal governments in operating correctional facilities for the past 25 years, and have a strong record of providing safe, secure and well-run facilities.”

This is the fourth facility MTC will operate in the state of Mississippi. Last year, MDOC awarded the company contracts to operate the East Mississippi, Walnut Grove, and Marshal County correctional facilities.

Odie Washington added, “MTC prides itself on performance and integrity. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with the Department of Corrections and the community of Woodville.”

“The Mississippi Department of Corrections has been very pleased with its relationship with MTC over the last year,” said Commissioner Chris Epps. “We look forward to a successful partnership at the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility as well. Mississippi state statute 47-5-1211 requires private prisons to operate at 10% less than the cost for the state and that provides for valuable cost savings for the taxpayers in Mississippi.  MTC will be held to the same high standards as set by MDOC, and I feel extremely confident that MTC will do a great job.”

MTC is a privately-held company based in Centerville, Utah. With the addition of this contract, MTC will operate 23 correctional facilities in eight states, including Mississippi. MTC is the third largest contractor of correctional facilities in the nation and the largest operator of the federal Job Corps program, which helps young adults find quality jobs through education and technical training.
