MTC Keys to Success
MTC has identified six keys to operating successful Job Corps centers: strong management, well-trained staff, academic and employability skills focus, student achievement of industry-recognized certifications, strong performance, and solid customer, government, and community partnerships.
STRONG MANAGEMENT
Outstanding Job Corps management drives MTC’s success. Qualified professionals with decades of Job Corps knowledge, experience, and leadership give MTC a competitive edge. MTC is a respected leader in the management of Job Corps centers. Our reputation as a proven performer, innovator and problem solver is critical to our success.
WELL-TRAINED STAFF
MTC recognizes the importance of well-trained staff and accommodates these needs in several ways. MTC provides supervisory development, management development and executive development training through the MTC Corporate University. This series is designed to assist employees in acquiring the skills they need to progress effectively into higher leadership positions. Many other specialized training programs and seminars are offered to MTC employees as needed.
ACADEMIC AND EMPLOYABILITY SKILLS FOCUS
Students at every level benefit from individualized instruction designed to maximize potential. English Language Learner (ELL) programs provide opportunities for foreign students. Students are encouraged to prepare for and pass the General Educational Development (GED) exam or obtain a high school diploma. Local college courses are also available for many students. Students also receive employability skills training to strengthen their interpersonal skills and enhance their career readiness.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT OF INDUSTRY-RECOGNIZED CERTIFICATIONS
MTC encourages students to earn industry-recognized certifications as a means of completing their career technical training program. A critical key to employment is for potential employers to be confident Job Corps trainees have the credentials they need to succeed. To instill employer confidence, MTC provides its trainees with the most commonly accepted certification exams within their chosen fields.
STRONG PERFORMANCE
MTC recognizes the importance the National Job Corps Office places on performance measures. Each month Job Corps centers are measured in many different statistical categories, focusing on student academic skills and effective placement of graduates into jobs, higher education, or the military. MTC monitors these student outcomes closely. Based on these measures, MTC is one of the top management performers among multiple center operators.
SOLID CUSTOMER, GOVERNMENT & COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS
MTC strives to develop and maintain quality relationships at each of its Job Corps centers with community partners that provide services to young adults. This includes active participation in community events along with strong relationships with local elected officials, media members and civic and business leaders. Additionally, MTC also maintains strong ties to its “customer,” the Job Corps National Office, by keeping officials informed of changes and developments on center.
